Resolving Identity Theft Issues with Justice of the Peace Court Precinct 2

If you have contacted Travis County Constable's Office Precinct 2 and are claiming that your warrants are the result of another person using your identity, You will need to take the following actions:

  1. File a report under Penal Code Section 32.51 with your local sheriff´s office or police department, or the sheriff´s office or police department where the alleged crime occurred.
  2. After receiving a copy of the report, contact the DPS Fraud Investigation Unit by phone or mail:

    Texas Department of Public Safety

Drivers License Division - Fraud Unit

    13730 Research Blvd

    Austin, TX 78750

    (512) 424-5785

The Fraud Unit will investigate the incident and provide the court with a copy of an offense report detailing the investigation of the identification issue. If the investigation determines a person other than you is responsible, the court that issued your warrants will:

It is your responsibility and in your best interest keep track of your complaint for Identity theft and the investigation regarding your complaint.

If you decide to use this procedure with another court (i.e. a court other than Travis County Justice of the Peace Court #2) our office has no control over different or extra procedures the court may require from you in order to clear your warrants due to identify theft.
