Essential Job FunctionsUnder moderate supervision, performs timely service of all criminal and civil processes issued by the courts and enforces local, state and federal laws. Transports prisoners to jail and may transport persons to court or other jurisdictions. May engage in investigative duties. May perform the following additional duties: Executes claims, performs clerical duties, maintains payroll records and office supplies inventory, checks title and serial numbers on vehicles, directs traffic, maintains patrol vehicles, makes arrests and serves as a bailiff for Justice of the Peace court. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements By state statute, requires a high school diploma or equivalency certificate with no felony convictions. Must be at least 21 years of age or at least 18 years of age with 60 or more hours of accredited college credits or 2 years of military service with an honorable discharge. Requires basic certification as a law enforcement officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. Must pass all written, physical and psychological tests required. Must have a valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license.



Typing Speed: 30 w.p.m.



Hours: Part-time, a minimum 16 hours per month and work hours will vary based on needs of the department.



TEXAS PEACE OFFICER LICENSE. (You must have a peace officer’s license)

Essential Job FunctionsUnder general supervision, performs a variety of administrative support and paralegal assistance duties in response to actions of the court. Coordinates and carries out duties involved in assigned causes of action. Receives payments and communicates with the public on warrants and other transactions regarding criminal law by phone and in person. Performs large amounts of data entry and filing.
Qualification Requirements Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration or directly related field AND two (2) years of responsible clerical experience to include familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, the court system and customer service.



Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish; Experience working in a Law Enforcement environment; Some knowledge of criminal/civil law



Typing Speed: 40 w.p.m.



Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday through Thursday between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm and Friday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Some weekend hours will be required annually. Job requires varying shifts including some evenings.
