Court Issued Warrants from the Justice of the Peace Court #2
Although Constables and Deputy Constables may execute criminal misdemeanor and felony warrants anywhere in the State of Texas, our office is mainly responsible for executing the criminal process directed to our office by the Justice of the Peace Court #2. Our office also executes other criminal process from other Justice of the Peace courts and Municipal courts in the state of Texas.
The Justice of the Peace Court # 2 will issue a warrant in the following situations:
- You fail to make a plea to violations on your ticket
- You fail to comply with Orders of the Judge
- You do not complete a payment plan or fail to make payments as promised
NOTE: You will not be arrested if you attempt to resolve your warrant(s) in person.
Failure to Make a Plea
When you receive a ticket, a ticket may have one or more violations (i.e. You may have received one ticket but have been cited for more than one violation). If you fail to make a plea to each violation within a period of time of your appearance date (the appearance date is written on the ticket by the officer issuing the ticket), the court will:
- Issue a warrant for your arrest which will increase the violation fine by an additional $50.00
- Send a request to the Texas Department of Public Safety to Deny Renewal or Issuance of your Driver's License and add an additional fee of $30.00 to each warrant
- In the near future, you may have to pay an additional 30% per warrant if it is sent to a collections agency
It is in your best interest to start resolving your warrants immediately.
Resolving a Warrant
Your warrant may be cancelled if you plead "No Contest/Nolo Contendere" to the warrant charge and pay the fine. For more information on making payments and paying fines, click here.
If you want to plead "Not Guilty" or contest any violation after an arrest warrant has been issued, you or your attorney must go to the Justice of the Peace Court #2 or the court that issued your warrant and post a bond to obtain a trial date. Our office does not post bonds and any information you receive from our office regarding the bond process is just speculation since our office has no control and does not process bonds for warrants. For true and correct information regarding the bond process you must contact the Court. Also a promise to post a bond on a warrant is not the same as actually executing the bond. Your warrants will remain active and you will be subject to arrest until your bond is accepted by the court.
